How do you kick off one great Super Bowl Sunday party? With some board games of course. If you’re hosting a Game Day party, you just might have a few guests (big or little) that don’t like football. (Gasp! I know. Shocking, but they do exist.) Having a few board games out and about is a great way to get the party started and entertain those who don’t like football.
In our Super Bowl Sunday Board Games list, we’ve included a few of those classic board games we mentioned here, as well as added in some new games you might not have heard of. One thing is for sure: they are all fun!
10 Board Games to Play on Super Bowl Sunday
For ages 5 and up, this is a fun game for the little guys. It’s a great game for testing their balancing skills (and patience). Each player places their pirate penguin on the boat, trying not to tip it.
2. Scrabble
Scrabble is always a big hit when it comes to a party. We have a GIANT (seriously, it’s huge) Scrabble board that we love. If you don’t have a large surface to dedicate to the game, go with the good ‘ol regular size board. Try making football related words. Now that would be a challenge!
3. Catch Phrase
This game is literally for any age, any crowd of people. I once played it with a crowd from age 13 to 80 something. It was hysterical! Just guess the answers to the clues, but do it fast before the buzzer sounds!
Okay, so you got me. This is so not a board game, but – it’s a toy to have out that is an absolute blast for both little and big football fans to play with. Football guys from Kasey Kids is a great way to teach someone about the game. We have the UT edition – given the fact that we live in Austin, TX. Hook ‘em!
5. Classic Jenga or Jenga Boom
Jenga is a game both kids and adults can play together. All you gotta do, it stack the blocks in a tower and not let fall. Easy enough right? Hasbro has released a new version of this game called Jenga Boom. We haven’t had the chance to play it yet, but that pull string thing looks like a lot of fun.
Just like in the classic Jenga game, you’ll need a delicate touch to pull blocks out of the stack without knocking it down. But in Jenga Boom, you have to move fast, because you start the detonator before each turn – and you have to get your block out before your time runs out and the stack “explodes.”
6. HedBanz Game
Can you guess “What am I?” Ask some yes or no questions and then try to guess who you are. It’s harder than it sounds. Every time I play it, I think I’ll get better. But I’m always challenged. I was once stuck on Penguin for stinkin’ ever!
7. Pictionary
Do you have mad drawing skills? No? Even better. Both the drawings and the guesses will have you in hysterics. Break up into teams and try to guess what your teammate is drawing. You could adapt this to a football party and make up your own cards – with football terms. Crazy fun.
8. The Game of Life: zAPPed Edition for iPad
Put a little technology spin to your board game playing. Why not?! The free app brings your game to life with over 100 hilarious clips from America’s Funniest Home Videos. You might need to put this game in another room, since you won’t be able to hear the game with all the laughing!
9. Taboo
Taboo, the laugh out loud, out-of-your-seat game of forbidden words. This game is best for ages 16 and up.
10. Mad Gab
“Canoe Key Pace He Grit?” Well, can you? Do you have any idea what I just said? Say it again, over and over, and you’ll get it. I’m so bad at this game, but I absolutely love it.
