Owning My Stupidity, Early and Often by Todd Bonner
Guess what! I am a freaking mess.
There I said it. It’s out there for everyone, including my kids, to see.
But here’s the thing: My kids won’t be surprised to hear me say that. I’ve said similar things to all of them in the past as part of apologies.
I encourage them to do the same, to not take themselves too seriously and consequently miss out on the goodness of life found in relationships.
In my house, I’m just another stupid human who forgets who they are and why they’re here many times every day. Sure, I go blind to my faults sometimes and forget this truth. But I always return to it.
I am a parent. I will do many things wrong. But I won’t forget to own my stupidity and pursue relationship with my kids through it.
