The Yo Gabba Gabba! crew is on the move again touring across the U.S.! There was a Yo Gabba Gabba Live! It’s Time To Dance! show on Sunday night (December 4th) in my town here in Texas and two of my friends took their kids to go see the show. I have an awesome write up from them, that I’ll share with you in a minute.
Yo Gabba Gabba Live! It’s Time To Dance! is presented by KIA Motors and features a mix of classic Yo Gabba Gabba! favorites, as well as new songs and new performances. The state-of-the-art, high-energy production features DJ Lance Rock, Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Plex and Toodee, and a mix of music, animation, games, singing and dancing.
Yo Gabba Gabba! is one of the most popular shows on TV worldwide and on stage. It appeals to preschoolers, as well as their indie-rock loving parents, teens and young adults.
My friends, Brad & Laurel, and their kids, Braeden and Julia, had a really nice time at the show and I am so excited to share their review with you:
My wife and 2 kids attended the Yo Gabba Gabba Live! event at Cedar Park Center on Sunday the 4th. My kids had “grown up” on the show, watching it from when they were 2 years old, perfect age to get their “dance-y dance” on
but we had never attended a YGG live event, so we didn’t really know what we were in for.
The stage was dressed accordingly, a very huge LED screen displayed the YGG logo, other border lights surrounded the stage and huge loudspeakers enveloped the stage so we knew we were in for some visual and aural delight! DJ Lance came on the screen for the usual YGG intro except that it was tailored for Austin (awesome touch personalizing it per city) and then when he magically appeared on stage, the place went nuts, the kids (and most adults) were so excited to see this orange jump-suited DJ! Throughout the first few minutes, the rest of the YGG cast were introduced in similar fashion to the tv show (toys “coming alive”) and from then on, it was non-stop entertainment with a barrage of “best of” songs/skits from the show with a few unique twists and turns to keep things funky fresh (yes, I said that and I know the show creators would appreciate that phrase).
To my surprise, dance party scouts were surveying the audience and my son was selected based on his enthusiasm and energy (he danced from the start of the show ’til finish) and was told to come up on stage later when called upon. Until then, we were treated to one of the best live kids show we’ve seen in person! After a brief intermission, none other than Biz Markie (yep, the “and you say he’s just a friend” guy) was on the big screen to do his standard “Biz’s Beat of the Day” routine and as if Plex himself transported him down, he was standing there in person to lead the audience through some beat boxing fun! It was at this point he called the kids on stage and, as parents who grew up on 80s/90s radio, my wife and I were beaming knowing that our son was sharing the stage with Biz and interacting with his requests (when asked for his name, my son replied “Boom” he was so nervous LOL).
All in all, the show and performances exceeded our expectations and it was just great, clean fun! If the YGG Live! show ever comes to your town, take my advice, run to the box office to get your tickets, you won’t be disappointed!
So, as you can see, the whole family had an amazing time and it’s something they were able to all enjoy together. I am sure Braeden will remember dancing on stage with Biz Markie for a long time!
