Today is the day THQ has brought the highly popular uDraw HD Game Tablet to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. It’s already been available for the Nintendo Wii and we were thrilled to hear it was coming to Xbox.
The day we received our unit was a good day in the Bonner household. Our 12 year old son is an aspiring artist. He’s in art class, spends hours in his room drawing and loves everything about art. The uDraw HD Game Tablet is the perfect video game for him and to say he is impressed with it would be an understatement.

Our Thoughts on the uDraw
From the HD quality to the ability to draw, pinch and stretch your pictures, we were all super impressed with how much there is to keep you busy and entertained on the uDraw. The sleek, new design makes holding the unit super easy and with the wireless connectivity, you can play from anywhere in the room. Not only is it touch sensitive, but you can also tilt it to play other uDraw games – which I’ll tell you about in a minute.
Our entire family were like kids in a candy store as we were opening the box and trying it out. We review a lot of video games and quite a few of them never make it here on ToyXplosion. The quality, the entertainment factor and the fact that our 12 year old said “This is the most amazing game ever” tells us this is one video game unit to add to the Holiday wish list.
The unit comes with uDraw Studio: Instant Artist and it truly brings your television to life and turns it into an HD art studio. The game has 15 art lessons, as well as fun activities, paints, brushes and animated stamps. (Did I mention there’s a ton to do?!) When you are done with your creation, you can share your masterpiece online.
Other games available are Pictionary Ultimate Edition and Marvel Super Hero Squad: Comic Combat. The Marvel game was perfect for our 7 year old who enjoyed being able to draw directly into the game. This is where the cool tilt feature of the tablet comes into play. You tilt it to fight, which he thought was super awesome. It includes the Marvel super heroes such as Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Wolverine.
The Pictionary Game was my favorite. I’ve always liked Pictionary, so to bring it to life on a video game was great. You can free draw, play games and create one very cool 3D game board.
uDraw Games Descriptions
uDraw Studio: Instant Artist™ – will bring the core functions of the uDraw GameTablet to life on your television. It is also scheduled to be available this fall, and will come bundled with the new uDraw. This enhanced artistic software package offers expansive guided tutorials to teach many of the basics of art and design, as well as a more intuitive interface that keeps art tools right on screen at all times. Using the new uDraw Studio: Instant Artist on uDraw for Xbox 360 and PS3, artists will be able to more easily send and share images online.
Pictionary Ultimate Edition – a new, high-tech version of the classic family and social game of quick sketches and crazy guesses. The game features new clues and modes exclusively created for the uDraw HD Game Tablet.
Marvel Super Hero Squad: Comic Combat – allows Marvel fans to become real Marvel artists, while thwarting Doctor Doom and his evil cohorts. Using the uDraw GameTablet stylus, players will command all their favorite Marvel Super Heroes, including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine, the Hulk – and for the first time ever, Squirrel Girl!
As of now at Amazon, for $119 you can get the uDraw Game Tablet plus the Marvel game. Do I think it’s worth the money? Heck yes. When you price it against other gaming units and compare the fact that your kids are using their creativity and artistic abilities, then yes, I think it’s worth it. I can’t wait to see what other games they come out with in the near future.
Extras: You will need 3 AA batteries. We’ve used the unit for hours and hours and still have not had to replace the batteries.
Ages: That’s the great thing about the uDraw Game tablet and games, it’s for everyone. I’d say 5 to 105!
