We reviewed the Perplexis Original last Holiday Season and it is still one of our favorite toys of all time. I have a basket under the coffee table where I keep games and other mind teasers to pull out when we have people over. If you come to my house, expect to be challenged.
Back in April, Perplexus released two new additions to its line – the Rookie and Epic.
The Rookie is definitely more for me and my personality and abilities. I get a little frustrated when I can’t solve things. The Rookie has also been perfect for our 7 year old to play with and he loves it. The Epic has become a family favorite, as well as with guests. Maybe it’s the name or the nice colors, or the looks on our faces when we say “You want to try the Perplexus Epic?”
Perplexus Original, Rookie and Epic Descriptions
Perplexus Original
The Perplexus Original Maze Game is a clear sphere filled with multicolored pathways covering different areas of the sphere’s interior. A small metal ball rolls around on the inside, and it’s your job to guide that ball through the maze to its end. Once the ball is balanced in its starting position, it’s easy to start rolling it around the tracks. By the time you’ve learned the different passageways, you’ll realize that even though it’s easy to play, all the different ways of moving around are hard to master!
Includes 100 challenging barriers. For ages 6 and up.
Perplexus Rookie
Perplexus Rookie will introduce you to the three dimensional, gravity defying world of Perplexus challenges. Flip, twist and turn the sphere to navigate the steel ball along the numbered tracks through 75 barriers of varying difficulty.
Good for beginners and young kids. If you’ve mastered the Original, this one might seem a little too easy for you.
Ages 6 to 10.
Perplexus Epic
You’ve mastered the Original – can you beat the new Perplexus Epic? Navigate the steel ball along the tracks, through 125 barriers of varying difficulty as you try to defy gravity. With gnarly new twists, turns and barriers, Perplexus Epic provides hours of challenging, three dimensional fun.
This one is hard. Dang hard for me.
Ages 6 and up.

Our Thoughts on the Perplexus Maze Balls
I was extremely impressed with the creativity, design and challenging nature of the Original Perplexus Maze game and these other two did not let me down either. They are fun. They are super well made. They would make a great gift for someone who is hard to buy for during the Holidays and someone who likes a challenge.
The great thing about the Perplexus balls are they’re not a “one-time play and master it” kind of thing. Even after you’ve mastered it, you want to pick it up again and try it over and over.
Extras: No extras to buy. Just open, play and be challenged.
Ages: 6 and up
