We first posted about the Justin Bieber dolls which were a huge success over the Holiday Season, back at the beginning of November 2010. Thanks to Justin Bieber himself who tweeted our link (Thank you!) fans came flocking to our blog to check out what the new dolls would look like and where they could get them.
Of course, the dolls had Bieber’s signature hairstyle that fans all knew and love. The company who created the dolls, The Bridge Direct, also announced coming this fall were Justin Bieber dolls with hair you could comb, called “Real Hairstyle Dolls”. They excitedly announced about the dolls in February.
So, what happened when Justin Bieber cut his hair? The company had to make some changes and it hurt a little.
The company had just finished the production of the dolls with the floppy hair when Justin decided to chop his signature ‘do.
Jay Foreman, CEO of The Bridge Direct company said, “First off, I had no idea what he did. I heard a lot of shrieks around me, and people running in and out of their offices. I got everyone into a conference room and we looked at some images… it became obvious that his trademark was gone.”
They realized the needed to re-do the dolls and create ones that looked like he did now. They didn’t want to disappoint fans, so after spending around $100,000, they altered the manufacturing of the dolls to look more like the singer.
“We didn’t want to disappoint fans with a Justin Bieber doll that doesn’t look exactly like him anymore,” he said.
Ouch! Although that hurt the company financially, we can’t wait to see what the new dolls look like and think they made the right move. Will you buy a Justin Bieber doll sporting his new hair style?
