If you love trivia games, do I have a new one for the family. It’s called Kwizniac and it is fun, fun, fun! (Did I mention it’s fun?)
I’m usually not a fan of trivia games because, well, I’m not very good at them! The way Kwizniac is set up and played, made it extremely enjoyable. It officially has a permanent spot in our collection of family games.
So, here’s how it’s played:
Kwizniac is a trivia countdown game designed to test your knowledge under pressure. The object of the game is for players to accumulate as many points as possible by correctly answering as many trivia questions as possible. To help players correctly identify the answer to each question, a set of 10 clues is provided in decreasing order of difficulty, where each clue is easier to decipher than the previous clue in sequence. The number of points a player receives for a correct answer decreases as he or she progresses through the sequence of clues. The player with the highest score wins the game.
I love how the clues start off more difficult and then get easier as you go down. Just for fun and so you can get a better idea of the game, here’s an example from one of the cards. I’ll give you the answer at the bottom of this post.
10. Studies show that you are never more than 3ft away from one.
9. They are an ancient mythological symbol for patience.
8. They have blue blood.
7. They do not have a skeleton.
6. They can jump up to 40 times their own body length.
5. Two nursery rhymes have been written about them.
4. They are ranked among the top 10 greatest fears.
3. A famous superhero is named after them.
2. They have eight eyes but very poor eyesight.
1. They secrete the strongest organic substance on earth.
Do you know what it is? As you can see, Kwizniac doesn’t just have entertainment value to it, but an educational one as well. I am amazed at what I learned just playing one round.
Kwizniac can be played with any number of players. This is one of those games you can open up and start playing immediately. The rules and game play are very easy to understand, which is always nice. And from a design aspect, I really like the size of the cards and the box they are stored in. It’s portable and doesn’t take up a lot of room. I actually leave it out on our coffee table to spark our visitors’ curiosity. Yes, everyone has asked about it.
Here’s the background story on this game, which I think is fabulous.
Kwizniac was created and developed by a highly talented, highly motivated team of young professional advertising and marketing people at ad agency L.A. Inc. in Toronto.
The idea was to do something different. The agency was and is successful and has created campaigns and marketing programs that have been very successful for clients. It was time to put our talents and expertise to work for ourselves.
Nice job! They’ve now created a separate company called The Brand Cafe and they are definitely not done creating products. The plan is to develop and produce other products and other Kwizniac editions-Kwizniac Sports Edition, Kwizniac Golf Edition, Kwizniac Entertainment Edition, Kwizniac History Edition, Kwizniac Canada Edition, etc. The list is endless.
I can’t wait.
Give Kwizniac as a gift for the Holidays, or add it to your game collection for all of those family get togethers you’ll be having. It’s recommended for ages 12 and up.
(Psst..did you get the trivia answer from the clues? The answer is spider. Tell me if you guessed correctly!)
