The Bagel Bites Snack Simply Pledge, Plus Free Bagel Bites! {Giveaway & Review}

Over the course of the summer, I’ve been giving a certain section of our home a little makeover. A healthy makeover you could say. It started in our pantry and has moved over to the refrigerator and freezer. That’s right. I did a food makeover. I realized the importance of healthy eating and mainly healthy snacking and knew it was time to make a change.

You see, I am very good at cooking healthy meals and making sure I add in a fruit and vegetable, but our snacking habits were super bad. I let the kids know that they would slowly start to see some changes and what kinds of products I wouldn’t be purchasing anymore. There wasn’t a rebellion. No one packed up their bags and left. It was actually simpler than I thought it would be.

When you’re making changes like this in your family, it’s nice to have a little bit of support. That’s why I took the Bagel Bites Snack Simply Pledge. The pledge asks parents to adhere to three guiding principles for snacking this summer, which include:

  1. Keep it Simple – Choose simple, easy-to-prepare snacks with wholesome ingredients.

2.   Keep it Tasty – Serve snacks kids will love to encourage lots of smiles around the table.

3.   Keep it Fun – Take the time to connect with your child and incorporate some simple, family-friendly activities during the daily snack-time routine.

For each person who takes the pledge, Bagel Bites snacks will donate $1 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, up to $50,000. So there’s an added incentive there, which helps others at the same time.

Healthy snacking doesn’t have to be hard. When the kids are out of school for the summer, it seems that all they want to do is eat! Eat when they’re bored. Eat when they’re reading. Eat when they’re watching TV. Eat. Eat. Eat! By providing some healthy choices and boundaries when it comes to their snacking, it can make things a little easier for mom and dad. And it sets the kids up for healthy eating in their adult years, when momma has no control!

I make snack time fun and simple throughout the summer by making sure the kids know what they can snack on and making the snacks easy to get to and easy to make.

Bagel Bites are perfect and fit into all of those categories. They are microwavable and older kids can easily make them themselves. They can even make them for their younger siblings (whether they want to or not). Did you know that Bagel Bites incorporated grains into their products? From the eight grams of whole grain per serving, the real mozzarella cheese and yummy tomato sauce, Bagel Bites are a great go-to snack choice for the summer. All three of our kids loved them (and so did the husband!).

Will you take the Bagel Bites Snack Simply Pledge? I hope so! And, how would you like the chance to win 4 Bagel Bites coupons good for one free package of Bagel Bites? Here’s the contest info!

I always have a large bowl of fruit on my kitchen table and animal crackers that are accessible to them so that that's the first thing available to them when they're hungry. I also have a whirly pop popcorn pan that they love to stir and make popcorn in- without all of the additives and fat that are in microwave popcorn. they love it.

We have as many fruits and vegetables available as possible so that everyone has at least one that they like. As bad as it sounds, we also hide any bags of junk food so that the automatic reflex to open a new bag of chips is eliminated. Thanks for the tips and giveaway!

I keep fresh fruit vegetables cut up and yogurt so the kids have something healthy to snack on.

We try to encourage healthy snacking by making sure there are plenty of nutritious options that are just as easy as grabbing a snack cake available.

We encourage healthy snacking by buying healthy and by example.

I encourage healthy snacking by only offering healthy options. If I don't offer a cookie, my son doesn't typically think to ask for one.

I buy a ton of fruit, cut it up into a big bowl and leave it in the fridge with a pack of toothpicks next to it. I've found that if it's easy, they'll eat it!

I encourage healthy snacking by having a fresh supply of fruit in the house.

I buy baked chips instead of fried and always have fresh fruit and nuts on hands.

It's simple..I encourage it by not buying unhealthy stuff :(

I need to have "ready 2 prepare" healthy snax such as these for my teenage son, with the "agreement" that he must ALSO eat one of his APPLES or some STRAWBERRIES (ONLY fruit he will eat "raw") ;ALSO he must "EARN" a serving of soda by drinking a glass of water PLUS milk or Juice FIRST. (He has Asperger's.) My daughter had "FACS" (home ec) this school term, so will make her OWN bagel pizza, etc. as long as I have ingredients on hand...AND she hardly EVER drinks soda (thank goodness!!) & helps appease her older brother w/home-made juice-pops, smoothies (HIDDEN FRUIT!! ;) ok, I've taken up enuf space!! Thanx, MO

We have a junk food time. It's Friday night through Saturday afternoon. Otherwise, we eat healthy. The kids don't feel deprived and they love to plan out healthy snacks and meals for the rest of the week.

I try not to buy cookies and candy and have fresh fruit always around.

I have a lot of healthy options available in my house, like cut up veggies and fruit so we will be more inclined to eat healthy.

I make sure there is always yogurt in the fridge. The boys tend to grab that first.
