Ravensburger Highlights Hidden Pictures Dog Wash Puzzle {Review & Giveaway}

As a work at home mom, I am constantly looking for activities to keep our 7 year old busy while I get in some work time. It annoys and bothers me when I am working and he’s just sitting on the couch watching TV. Sure, some TV time is okay and he needs down time like that, but after about an hour of TV, he needs something else.

The other day, he came in from swimming with his big brother and sister and wanted an activity to do. That’s when I pulled out one of the new puzzles from the Ravensburger Highlight’s line. He put together the Ravensburger Highlights: Dog Wash – 35 Pieces Hidden Pictures Puzzle. I love these puzzles and so does he. Win-win for both of us. (Keep reading for giveaway details!)

The puzzle only had 35 pieces, so he put it together quickly, but the fun didn’t stop there. After putting together the puzzle, there are hidden pictures to find. The Dog Wash puzzle included hidden objects such as a banana, sock, fish and other small items.

To stretch out play time for Aaron just a little (okay…and for me) I had him write down where he found the hidden object. He worked on his writing skills at the same time, which was super cool for him and me.

There are so many good skills to be learned when it comes to putting together a puzzle. And then add on top of that finding hidden objects! It takes it to the next level.

Here’s a little more info about the different Highlights Puzzles from Ravensburger which recently came out:

Four new Highlights brand puzzles join the line-up this year, expanding the selection that debuted in fall 2010 inspired by the iconic brand and most widely-read children’s magazine in the country.  The 2011 offerings include a 60-pc Hidden Pictures Fun in the Classroom puzzle, which encourages children to find the silly items in the completed scene.  The puzzle is presented in a special yellow school bus tin for easy clean-up and portability.  SRP: $14.99.

Other new puzzles in the Highlights collection include: a 35-pc Hidden Pictures Dog Wash and 100-pc Hidden Pictures Amusement Park — that present the much-loved seek-and-find activity.  SRP: $10.50 each; and a 100-piece double-sided That’s Silly! and Hidden Pictures puzzle, with characteristics of each activity on their respective side, called At the Beach, for double the fun!  SRP: $12.99.

Stay tuned for more new puzzles from Ravensburger, which we’ll tell you about soon! Now for the giveaway….

@Dave - That's one we haven't tried yet! I will definitely check that out. Thank you for the recommendation.

I am a big fan of Ravensburger games and puzzles. In particular, if you and your kids haven't tried Labyrinth, you really should. I'd suggest you skip the "kids" version and help your children figure out the adult versions. Great fun and a nice mental exercise too.
