Have you heard about Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling‘s next big project? It’s called Pottermore and it has Harry Potter fans completely excited. In this video clip, she announces the site and lets us in on the details.
Pottermore is a unique and free-to-use site that creates an online experience around her hugely successful Harry Potter books. There is still a ‘Coming Soon’ landing page, as you’ll see, and it’s set to launch in October.
There’s also going to be a Pottermore Shop which will sell eBooks and digital audiobooks in several different languages. Scholastic has partnered with Pottermore and their main goal is to connect teachers and parents to eBook sales, while providing marketing and promotion support.
Here’s what J.K. Rowling had to say about the site and why she created it:
“I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation,” says Rowling. “I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have. To add to my input into the website, everyone will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment–Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site.”
What do you think!?
