We have more information about the upcoming video game Super Mario All-Stars. The game is being released on December 12, 2011 – still plenty of time to get it as a Christmas gift!

Here’s all the information you need about Super Mario All Stars!

A Celebration Collection
This collectible package features four classic Mario™ games, a soundtrack CD and an illustrated commemorative booklet. It’s a special collection of some never-before-seen items released in honor of the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros.™ game on the Nintendo Entertainment System™.

FEATURES:

  • The games included in the Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition are:
    • Super Mario Bros.: This is the game that started it all. It features now-iconic Mushroom Kingdom characters like Mario, Bowser™, Princess Peach™, Toad™ Goombas and Koopas. This game set the standard for all future platforming games.
    • Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels: Originally released in Japan as Super Mario Bros.® 2, this game has only brief cameo appearances in the Western Hemisphere. Mario fans will appreciate the familiar look and feel of the game.
    • Super Mario Bros. 2: This time, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad have little more than vegetables to defend themselves with. Each character has a unique set of abilities: Luigi can jump higher and farther, Toad can dig extremely fast and pull items out of the ground quicker, Princess Peach is the only one who can jump and hover temporarily and Mario has the most balanced skills.
    • Super Mario Bros. 3: This installment introduced new elements like the Tanooki Suit and Koopalings. Mario must battle new enemies, returning favorites and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on his way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Suit.
  • Each game features the enhanced graphics and updated sound from the Super NES™ Super Mario All-Stars game.
  • All four games can be played on the Wii system using one of several controllers: the Wii Remote™ controller, Classic Controller™, Classic Controller Pro™ or the Nintendo GameCube™ controller.
  • Also included is a Super Mario History soundtrack CD, a compilation of memorable music from the Mario franchise. Containing classic theme songs and fun sound effects from the original Super Mario Bros. game all the way up to the acclaimed Super Mario Galaxy™ 2 game, this special disc also marks the first official release of the “Super Mario Bros. Ground Theme” in North America, widely recognized as one of the most famous pieces of video game music in history.
  • Rounding out the Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition is a 32-page Super Mario History booklet featuring interviews, behind-the-scenes details and rare concept art. Fans from every generation can enjoy firsthand insights into the beginnings of Mario, illustrated with candid photos and never-before-seen design sketches.

Another crass move from Nintendo this holiday season (there was no price cut for the Wii, Thanks Nintendo!). If Nintendo cared about making a decent celebration collection, it would've made sense for them to have included the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World version instead, which can be found here: dgemu.com/SNES-details-613.html for free. But, Nintendo clearly cares about making a celebration collection of greed, so Nintendo gives gamers the cheaper version WITHOUT Super Mario World. Typical Nintendo.

Don't get drawn into the hype; the 'celebration collection' is merely a rom on a disk for an outrageously expensive price. The rom at dgemu is free (register/login) to get. A Mario fan has already ripped the soundtrack disk to mp3 format, so get the .rar. Finally, forget the fancy packaging; nobody needs that. Take all the elements I've mentioned (dgemu rom, soundtrack .rar, and disk-burning), combine them all, and give the disk you've made to a loved one for free as a Christmas gift. Take out the middle man; take out Nintendo.
