What is Sheriff Woody from the Toy Story movies was an actual manufactured toy BEFORE the movies came out? In celebration of the November 2nd release of Toy Story 3 on Blu-ray & DVD, we have this fun toy profile and concept art on Sheriff Woody.
MEET WOODY…
Full Name: Sheriff Woody
Occupation: Cowboy toy and Andy’s favorite companion
Talents: Great cowboy skills, great leadership qualities and an even greater friend
Year Made: 1957
Description: Yee-hah! This ultra-rare cowboy toy from the 1950s was the star of his very own television show, Woody’s Roundup. Unfortunately, the series got cancelled before the finale episode – Woody’s Finest Hour – could be aired. Boo!
Special Features: Hand-painted face on a durable vinyl head; authentic sheriff’s badge; leather belt with matching gun holster and Roundup Ranch belt buckle; hand-stitched polyvinyl hat; checked cotton shirt; blanket-stitched vest; leather cowboy boots complete with spurs and boot straps; denim pants; bandana; pull-string voice control unit on back.
Wear And Tear: Woody’s right arm has been sewn back onto his body with red thread (a surgery undertaken by his owner, Andy). Brown paint has been scratched away on the bottom of his left foot to reveal the handwritten word ‘ANDY’. Otherwise the specimen is in great condition
Fast Fact: Pull the string on this cowboy’s back to hear some classic Woody phrases including:
“There’s a snake in my boot!”
“Reach for the sky!”
“You’re my favorite deputy!”
“Somebody’s poisoned the water hole”
“This town ain’t big enough for the two of us!”
“I’d like to join your posse, boys – but first I’m going to sing a little song!”
Did You Know? This poseable doll is part of a highly collectable collection of Woody’s Roundup merchandise including posters, pennants, cookie jars, radios, lamps, souvenir plates, record players and toys. Woody’s the most loyal toy in the toy box. His favorite hobbies include roping and having fun, but he’s also secretly ticklish. Shhh… Don’t tell a soul!
