Toy Story 3 was fabulous in the movie theater and one of our favorite movies of the year. It was exciting as an adult who has followed the Toy Story movies through the years and it was exciting for a child, who was possibly experience the story for the first time.
On November 2nd, Toy Story 3 is releasing on DVD and Blu-ray and we know this will be one of the biggest releases of the year. We received our advance copy and sat down to watch it last night. It was as good the second time on DVD as it was in the theater. There was one bonus feature which talked about the process of making the film. How it’s sketched out before it ever goes to the animation studio. The amount of work, blood, sweat and tears that go into the process of making a big animated hit like Toy Story 3 blew me away.
The animators pitch their ideas for plot twists and turns using hand-drawn storyboards, like this one.
And do you know how they get some of their inspiration for the amazing Pixar films? Cereal. You heard me right. Cereal. I loved this bonus feature which talks about their cereal bar and of course, it’s 99% true, as they can recall it.
