Our boys are crazy about anything with wheels and anything they can wheel around on outside. So when I told them we were receiving the Whiplash Wave Scooter by Street Surfing, they were ecstatic. They not only had seen it advertised on TV, but they had been on YouTube to check out what tricks you can do. They are both daredevils and will try just about anything. I watch them with my hands over my face most of the time.

Building on the success of the original Wave street surfing casterboard, the Whiplash Wave scooter continues to combine the natural fluidity of surfing with the maneuverability of snowboarding and skating. Offering a revolutionary new way to ride, the Whiplash Wave Scooter’s flexing deck and handlebar fuse together to provide riders with a cool, side to side, whip-like ride. And you can self-propel the scooter so that your feet never touch the ground or ride it like a traditional scooter. The Whiplash Wave Scooter only takes a few minutes to learn, and after a few hours most riders become proficient.
The platform is made of a virtually indestructible yet nicely lightweight ABS plastic, and it features a steel torsion bar that controls the flexible front and rear panels and never wears down. Other hardware features a rear caster wheel with ABEC 7 bearings and an extra long handle folds for easy travel and storage.
How to Ride the Whiplash
1. Place the Whiplash on a slight downward slope.
Place foot in the center of the back platform and position the scooter so that it is level with the ground.
2. Push with your front foot and lean your weight forward.
Look straight ahead. Straighten your body and bend your knees slightly.
3. Immediately after pushing off, start the twisting motion.
To achieve an “S” shape, move your shoulders and your hips back and forth in opposing directions. Swing your back foot repeatedly left to right and self propel your Whiplash Scooter without ever putting your foot on the ground.
Our experience with the Whiplash Wave Scooter: It was super easy to put together. In fact, our ten year old son put it together and it hasn’t fallen a part yet.
It took both our 10 yr. old and 6 yr.old a little while to get the hang of it, but when I say a little while, I mean a few scoots around our neighborhood street and driveway.
They love it because it’s different from any scooter they have tried before and let me tell you, we have a TON of scooters from Razor to the Fuzion scooter. What’s different about this scooter, are all the techniques and tricks they can learn. When they say it blends surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding techniques, they aren’t kidding.
Our boys have ridden it everyday since we received it about a week ago. It’s one of those scooters that gets them outside and off the couch because they want to see what other tricks they can learn.
You can purchase the Street Surfing Whiplash Wave Scooter at Amazon for $59.99.Would we have spent our own money on this for our boys? You bet we would. They love it and it’s well worth the money. They are having fun and getting exercise. Now if only they would share it with their friends when they come over.
