What’s the Latest Toy to Be Turned into a Movie? Troll Dolls!

Toys and movies…it’s a good mix wouldn’t you say? The ‘Toy Story’ franchise sure has done well and so have other films based on toys. What’s up next for the toys crossing over to movies? According to the Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks is planning a movie based on the Good Luck Trolls!

The Good Luck Trolls, with their frizzy, pastel-colored hair, are coming to the big screen via DreamWorks Animation.

The Glendale-based animation house, which has already turned an ogre into the successful “Shrek” franchise, announced Tuesday that it has pacted with Denmark’s Dam Things, which controls the toy line, to develop an animated feature.

The Good Luck Trolls first became a success in the early 60′s, but made their big debut in the early 90′s. Ah, the 90′s….

So, what exactly will a movie based on these dolls be about? Variety says, ‘The feature will expand on the troll dolls’ mythology, while giving Dam a chance to relaunch the toy line for another set of young collectors.’  Thomas Dam is the original creator of the dolls.

Who wants to bet these Good Luck Trolls sales start going up? I am already thinking I need a few!
