On May 4th, Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) by Lauren Myracle is being released and our 12 year old daughter couldn’t be more excited. She is a HUGE fan of these books and has read the other ones in the series 3 or 4 times. We pre-ordered this one and can’t wait to see what she thinks of it. (And let me just say, I love the fact that she didn’t just name this one 14. Very clever!)
The other Lauren Myracle books she has read and would recommend to any tween girl who loves to read, are Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen and Luv Ya Bunches: A Flower Power Book. Lauren Myracle is the bestselling and award-winning author of many novels, including the Winnie and Internet girls series. A graduate of the Vermont College MFA program in writing for children and young adults, she lives with her family in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) is about Winnie Perry, who is fourteen now, and the countdown to high school is shaping up to be as eventful as an entire year of middle school. Not only are things shaky with her boyfriend, Lars, but BFFs Dinah and Cinnamon have been acting weird, big sister Sandra is college-bound, little brother Ty has smuggled a stolen penguin home in his backpack, and new baby sister Maggie has everything turned upside down.
It’s a lot for anyone to handle, and loyal Winnie is so busy worrying about everyone else that she hardly notices that she might just be struggling a little bit herself.
With humor and honesty, Lauren Myracle brings us another pitch-perfect novel featuring the characters that her legions of fans have grown up loving.
If you have a tween girl in your household and she hasn’t read these books, surprise her with the whole series. She will love them!
