Review: Cahootie Puts a Modern Twist on a Classic Game

Are you wondering what a Cahootie is? I did too when I was asked to review one and was told it’s a modern twist on a classic game.

What classic game exactly? Do you remember making those ‘cootie catchers’ and ‘fortune telling’ games by folding a piece of paper, adding some numbers and fun sayings? I sure do. In fact, my kids are making them too! I think they are sick of me saying ‘That’s from my childhood!’. I don’t blame them. That can definitely get annoying after awhile. :)

Here’s a picture of a Cahootie.

Cute isn’t it? We were sent the BIRTHDAY WISHES Cahootie to review and our 12 year old daughter loves it. This is actually the second time she has been able to review a Cahootie. She has also played with the SPORTY GIRLS and BEST FRIENDS FOREVER Cahooties.

Does she like them? Oh my goodness YES! She loves them and her and her friends play with them all the time at recess. I love that it encourages her and her friends to connect, interact and bond with each other. In this hi-tech world, I think more than ever we need to teach our kids how to do all three of those things. Cahootie supports teaching kids to unplug from the hi-tech world and work on building relationships.

Each Cahootie is rip resistant (they really are durable), 80 stickers and an instruction sheet. There are so many fun themes to choose from. You can take a look at the collection over at Amazon.

The Birthday Wishes one we received to review is perfect for a Birthday party. Girls can celebrate with questions, quotes and challenges. And when the party is over, send each girl home with their own Cahootie in their goodie bag. They are priced at around $6.99, so they make an inexpensive gift for your friends.

Cahootie also has a great website where you can learn how to play, a great page just for parents and Club Cahootie where you can where you can chat or blog with your friends, play Virtual CahootieTM and other cool games, listen to music, watch TV and share videos or pics.

As a parent of a tween girl, I love the whole concept and mission behind the Cahootie and will continue to buy them as they come out with new products. You can purchase Cahootie at Justice, select Hallmark stores, select Learning Express stores, and independent toy and gift retailers nationwide. They are also on Amazon.
