Tomorrow, January 29th, is National Puzzle Day! Highlights for Children is helping celebrate by releasing an entirely new edition of its Puzzlemania book club. The original book club was launched more than 20 years ago and it is the most successful puzzle-based book club in print.
“We love puzzles,” says Highlights Executive Editor Mary-Alice Moore. “They are truly ‘Fun with a Purpose.’ Kids are engrossed by the challenge of a good puzzle, and at the same time fall in love with the problem-solving process. Doing puzzles on a regular basis reinforces logic, critical thinking, reasoning, visual, reading and math skills.”
The new Puzzlemania books, edited for children ages 7 and older, include a wide variety of puzzles, including mazes, What’s Wrong?, secret codes, word play, double check puzzles, math and logic puzzles and perpetual Highlights favorite, Hidden Pictures. The new edition of Puzzlemania features a free puzzling website for kids, Puzzlemania.com, where they can play picture sudoku, crack secret codes and test their wits with assorted brainteasers and challenges.
